In 2021, Firefighter Greg Leonard was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Greg's family and friends rallied around him to help him fight the disease and the #1818Strong hashtag was born, recognizing Greg's fire department badge number.
The #1818Strong Scholarship fund provides an annual investment into accounts for each of Greg's boys, Kip and Dash. This fund will help ensure that Greg and family do not have to worry about funding their boy's future education needs. Two-thirds of the funds invested annually into the
The design of the shirt is based on a flag made by Greg, and includes his signature and badge number. Proceeds from the shirts go to the #1818Strong Scholarship fund. Shirts ordered after March 1 will not arrive in time for St. Patrick's Day, however they can be worn every year, and you are supporting a great cause.
In addition to providing the annual investment for the Greg's sons, the #1818Strong Scholarship Fund will provide an annual scholarship(s) to first responders who have been medically retired due to illness or injury, or their family members. The scholarships will be merit-based and a scholarship committee will decide the recipient(s). Stay tuned for application details for 2022.
